We're getting married!
Joe & Fran

Madrid awaits you
Madrid is the capital of Spain and the city that saw Fran grow up. We believe that Madrid encapsulates both of our cultures, where Spanish tradition and Southern hospitality meet. Think sun-soaked plazas, tapas, late-night laughter, world-class art, and strolls through leafy parks and busy streets. It’s lively, welcoming, and effortless for guests, exactly how we want our celebration to feel. And even though the closest beach is a good four-hour drive away, the Mediterranean spirit is everywhere in daily life: unhurried meals, long sobremesas, and a rhythm that puts family, friends, and good conversation first.

A historic and traditional venue
The Old Convent of Boadilla del Monte
We have chosen El Antiguo Convento de Boadilla del Monte ("The Old Convent of Boadilla del Monte") as the venue for the ceremony and the reception of our wedding. Just nine miles west of central Madrid, this space was founded in 1674 welcomes you with Old-World charm and warmth. Once a Carmelite convent, it is now a lovingly restored boutique hotel and wedding venue. The convent blends timeless brick and stone architecture, arched walkways, a cloister, two patios, and lavender-lined gardens with the comfort and convenience you expect today.
We will have an outdoor ceremony in one of the gardens, the cocktail hour in the now-covered former cloister, and the banquet in the formal, indoor gala dinner space called El Invernadero ("The greenhouse"). But don't be misled by the name, there's A/C in every indoors space, so the hot Spanish weather of August should not hurt much. We'll end the night at The Vaults: original stone vaulted rooms now converted as a dancing space, where we will be until the early hours of Sunday, in pure Spanish style.
We didn’t find out until after we booked, but in the 1960s a cousin of Fran’s grandmother called this convent home. Fresh to the city at just 15, after leaving her small town in rural Spain to work in the big city, Fran’s grandma would stop by on Sundays to see her.
